I Left My Heart...

... in San Francisco!
o
Or more specifically, at the Letterman Digital Arts Center. But first things first...
o
A trip down memory lane (but really, we needed to buy some jackets for the kids) at San Francisco State University.

o
Outside the Creative Arts building!

o
Inside the Creative Arts building - next to what used to be Classroom #116! (They re-numbered it for some reason).

o
Then it was on to the stunning Letterman Digital Arts Center, aka Lucasfilm, Ltd., at the Presidio.

o
In the main lobby - Maren finds a friend!

o
As does Deacon. Though he looked a little less intimidated...

o
...at his last meeting with the Dark Lord of the Sith.

o
Lots of Star Wars books were available for browsing in the lobby!

o

o

o
Me, with the Lucasfilm reception desk in the background!

o
The start of the tour: signing nondisclosure agreements.

o

o
The entrance to ILM (Industrial Light & Magic)!!

o
Quality time with Artoo!

o
Of course, the kids have a long history of association with the trusty astromech droids. From 2007:

o
Being Artoo! (and C-3P0). Also from 2007.

o
Back to ILM 2010 - our favorite frozen smuggler.

o
If only I could figure out these controls!

o
And our favorite frozen gungan! Jar Jar Binks in Carbonite!
o
Freeing Jar Jar!

o
Even the hallways are breathtaking.
o
As if all the great models and props lining the hallway aren't enough, you have this view of the Golden Gate Bridge.

o
Derek wanted a picture of this for Tom. From George's personal poster collection!

o
Maren, Mommy, Deacon, Daddy, Denise (our incredibly nice tour guide) and Taylor.

o
Lunch in the commissary, which was as spectacular as anything on Bespin or Coruscant!
o
Trish, Derek and Terri's former Disney co-worker and current LFL employee who came in on her day off so we could have this incredible experience, and her daughter Taylor!

o
Making a phone call from the Lucasfilm Gift Shop.

o
Deacon with the spectacular Millennium Falcon toy.
o
Books!

o
Phone Home! Heading back out to the lobby.
o
Boba Fett wasn't collecting bounties today, just takin' pictures with kids.

o
Outside, at the Yoda fountain.

o
The kids with their gift shop purchases, under the watchful eye of Master Yoda.

o
Maren brought home a new member of the family: Rotta the Huttlet!

o
Back on the streets of San Francisco. On the way to find a bathroom for Deacon, who naturally was not in need of one five minutes before in the pristine halls of Lucasfilm, Derek spotted an electric shaver shop.

o
Coming from a long line of electric shaver repairmen, he stopped to take a couple of pics.

o
A cable car!

o
Lombard Street!

o
Ghirardelli Square...

o

o
This giant vat of chocolate is SO BORING compared to all the great stuff at Lucasfilm.

o
Topping the day off with a banana split.
o
THANK YOU Trish, Denise and Taylor, for the taking time to spend some of your busy day with us. We'll never forget it, and... May the Force be with you!

Sunsplash!

We had fun in the sun (with about a million other people on a crowded day) at Sunspash Roseville!
o
Getting ready... a dab of sunscreen.
o
The cake! I think Spongebob and the folks at the Krusty Krab would approve!
o
Happy Maren!

o
Gramps and Grandpa, together again!

o
Party in the castle.

o
Fun with Sydney!

o
But things can quickly turn very serious at a Spongebob-themed birthday party.

o
On hand to celebrate - ETHAN! We last saw him on the day he was born!

o
Elias and Deacon, ready to ditch the cake and presents and get to the water park.

o
Sydney starts a new fashion trend.

o
Happy Grammie!

o
A new doll!!

o
New Uglydolls - Mr. and Mrs. Kasoogi!

o
Finally outside - and sleeping away.

o
Is it a floatation device?? We looked - and it doesn't say it isn't! Mike generously bought me this gigantic container of Diet Pepsi. I will treasure it always.
o
Our photographer made the decision not to take our beloved camera on all the water slides, so we have no pics of actual water revelry. But rest assured everyone got wet. Except me, since I was quite content with my giant Diet Pepsi, which stayed cold all day!

NEW FEATURE: FUN PHOTOS With Your Cell Phone!

Today's FUN PHOTO was submitted by Derek, who took this shot of a fully engulfed car on Interstate 5, just outside of Los Angeles.

o
Nobody was injured, but traffic was backed up for miles!
