Sunday Recital

What better way to celebrate your birthday than going to your own piano recital?

Maren and Deacon both performed in yesterday's recital in Valley Village.

Later in the program... Deacon plays Circus Elephants!

We discovered during practice that he played the first part of the song much better while closing his eyes (blocking out distractions.)

Eyes open, on the home stretch...

His trademark glance at the gallery...

Movie: Finishing up and taking a bow!

For the finale, all the performers sing Put A Little Love In Your Heart.

The Last Swimming Lesson

Contemplating their swimming futures yesterday (6/27)...

I took this cell phone pic of the kids as they waited for their final lesson to start.
f
Deacon officially passed the class and is ready for the next level, as evidenced by this cool Red Cross certificate:

h
Maren, on the other hand, has some work to do. The teacher's report:

f
Well, there's always next year!

A June Birthday Girl herself, Maren is excited to have Deacon join her and her friends for lunch!

g
Ready to party!!

g
He may be a lot bigger now, but Deacon is still a preschooler at heart.

f
Lunch!
g
Maren wears not one, but two special birthday hats!

g
Now everybody's happy.

f
If you're not turning 4, and you're a boy, you can't wear that hat, mister!

f
A cupcake... with a candle!

f
Making a birthday wish (even though she already blew out the candle). Deacon said later that he made a wish, too; he wished that he and Maren would always be friends!
