Our trip to Hume Lake ended on a high note...
oBehold Derek's impressive catch!!
oAs we were packing up our gear after an unsuccessful morning of fishing, Derek managed to snag this small but mighty fellow. It might as well have been 8 feet long, the kids were so excited! Well done, Derek!
oCelebrating the Big Catch of '09 with a golf cart outing.
oDeacon had been looking forward to this moment for a long time - finally sketching the scenery in Hume Lake!
o
oThey drew more sea monsters than scenery, but at least the dream of sketching by the lake came true!
oo
oA group pic before we all headed back to Sacramento.
o
We'll have coverage of more Sacramento adventures as soon as our busy schedule of swimming, eating and shopping permits.

I really appreciate the updates! But take it easy, though... Don't go straining yourself with anything too arduous... You're not reaching for the maillot jaune in the Tour de France... You have to pace yourself, save your remaining strength for further eating, shopping and relaxing.
It's a Sacto summer in all its glory - 106 degrees, no end in sight. All the state workers are on furlough and it's one big party up here!! Eating, swimming and shopping are about all everyone's doing. Except for Gramps, who spends hot days vacuuming (yes, vacuuming) his shrubs out back, and Uncle Chris, who has to go to school. And me, working hard to keep our faithful blog readers up-to-date and entertained!!
BREAKING NEWS: Gramps has just stepped in from the garage to inform us that his homemade "okie air conditioner" has cooled off the aforementioned garage to a cool, comfortable 97 degrees. And though the latest weather report said it's 106 outside, Gramps says it's "at least 108". So that's the latest!
I have my first furlough day next week. Woo-hoo! More time to read blogs.
