We managed to remove the "Demo Version" text from our video upload.

Here are Deacon and the Rebels performing Yoda!
o
Original post (1/30/09):
o
Tonight we enjoyed a talent show at St. Paul's!
o
The tacos served by the hard-working Parent Teacher League looked really good, but with our family band's world premiere moments away, Derek and I were too nervous to eat anything.
o
The MCs introduce the evening's second act...

o
Maren! Fresh from her recital, The Country Mouse and the City Mouse went off without a hitch.

o
Then, making their debut on the world stage, singing Weird Al's classic Yoda...
o
DEACON and the REBELS!

o
Our drummer was in top form.

o
Until we hire a roadie who can run our A/V equipment, I'll have to sit and sing while running pictures off the laptop.

o
Maren expertly shook the shaker!

o
We all benefited from the comforting presence of Master Yoda.

o
Our drummer was a little distracted by the slide show, but managed to keep the beat anyway.

o
Next up: a very funny skit from the 3rd grade boys about German soldiers!
After she was nice enough to help out the AFB by taking pictures of Deacon and the Rebels, Ms. Hartel's daughter Rebecca sang This is Me.

We had a great evening and are looking forward to our next gig! We'll be sure to announce our tour dates as soon as our manager arranges them for us. If only we had a manager!

Wish I could have been there to witness your debut! Hummmm...... I think we should hire Deacon and the Rebels to play for Papa's 100th birthday party later this year!!!
Oooooh, a gig! Uncle Chris might have to be our roadie. Or our manager -- he can take his pick.
Oh man, where do I begin:
Did you guys crank it to eleven?
Did Terri accidentally book the gig at an Air Force base?
Did Deacon spontaneously combust?
Did Maren dress like an Australian's nightmare?
Did Derek prise the rent out of the local Hebrews (because that's what he does)?
Look, I do what I'm asked to do by the creative element of this band. Whether or not Maren knows the difference between feet and inches is not my problem.
But you're not as confused as 'er, are you, I mean it's not your job to be as confused as Maren is...
Didn't you get pictures of the tacos?
Yes, where are the pictures of the tacos? "Talent" was only a portion - and judging from the video, a small portion - of the evening. The event was, after all TACO and Talent night, not the other way around. I do not mean to imply that your blog is in any way tacophobic, but until this glaring omission is rectified, I just can't be sure.
Yes, I'm insulted that my picture was not included. My immense talent is evident in my 1982 hit single "Puttin' on the Ritz". I'll never read this blog again!
Yeah, well, you're not as talented as us. "Don't You Want Me" made it to #1 in 1982. "Puttin' On the Ritz" only made it to #4. Take THAT, Taco!
Hey, Matt's favorite bands from the early 80s...that's wonderful.
Well, Human League, "Physical" was the #1 overall song for 1982 on the Billboard Top 100 chart. "Don't You Want Me" was only #6.
As for you, Taco, "Puttin' On the Ritz" didn't even make the top 100.
Also from 1982: My movie "Blade Runner".
...and Matt's favorite movie, too.
I know.
Ah, pardon me, but the conversation has gotten a bit off track. If we could return to the subject of this blog's lack of tacos, it would be most appreciated. Thanks. The point is, the vast majority of sites in the blogosphere prominently display pictures of burritos, tostadas, and even taco salads (close, but no enchilada!). Why the blatant underrepresentation of tacos? My two cents, thanks.
