UPDATE 6:42 p.m. - some live Doppler images. We appreciate that the Southern California image, courtesy KABC-7 Los Angeles, is titled Live Mega Doppler 7000 HD. We were not as impressed with KCRA-3 Sacramento's boring title, Triple Doppler Radar.

FIRST REPORT: 4:00 p.m.
The AFB Sacramento Bureau is reporting heavy rain, wind, and general chaos from the Big Storm of '08 in our state capitol this afternoon. From Desk Fair Oaks, Here are some pictures of Gramps as he works feverishly to save his house. The power has been out, the fence is falling down, and the trees are dropping limbs. Worst of all, Cable TV has been out or working intermittently. Even Uncle Chris is concerned, getting up to look out the window now and then.
Many thanks to our correspondent Grammie, who was on the scene with her camera and took these pictures!

Amazing coverage of STORMTERROR ’08
I saved the fence and cleared the drain but the cable TV is still on the fritz. What the photos fail to show is the wind (60 mph) and the deluge that occurred just before Grammie snuck the pictures from the warmth of the family room. What doesn't show is that I was soaking wet from head to toe. I forgot to turn the hood of the slicker inside out so when I bent down to remove the drain cap, all the water that accumulated in the hood on my back gushed down my back. That won't happen again! I cut a hole in the hood so it just drains out slowly...
You are a hero, Gramps! It must have been like you coached the winning Superbowl team and got drenched with Gatorade. Or maybe not... but we love the story!! Hope you're warm and dry now!
I have no pixs, but we also had quite a heartstopping moment when a telephone pole fell down and threatened our internet. Power was already out due to a downed pole near Music & More Theater, foiling attempts by hungry teachers to get paid this week. However, we still had power at the house...though lights were flickering. Mike, racing back through the driving wind, noticed the imperiled lines (quote, "they were stretched to the breaking point") and saved our internet connection by jumping from his car upon seeing the work crews and gesturing urgently up our hill. Crews hurried to save the line. Kudos to Mike and Darrell for protecting our collective technical interests!
Thanks for your report! To think you could have tragically lost your internet connection. If you take any pictures, feel free to send them to us at set271@yahoo.com! Your journalistic integrity would not be compromised if you re-created the moment when Uncle Mike jumped from his car. That would be a blog-worthy pic! :)
I'll do it...after I finish my Masters presentation Powerpoint. I sent in my thesis Sunday at 2:00 a.m....almost there.

Wow, congratulations on getting your thesis in (and almost done!) :)
