BREAKING NEWS: SNOWMAGEDDON 0-11

It last snowed in Burbank on January 10th, 1949...

o
So it was a BIG surprise when it snowed again today for the first time in 62 years!!

o

o

o
Derek and Maren were at a birthday party in Sherman Oaks... so I had to think fast. Not knowing where the snow gloves were, I pulled out some oven mitts...
o
...and a boogie board!

o
We know we always completely overindulge in picture taking, but considering this might not happen again for a half a century, we hope you'll forgive us for posting a bunch of scenery pics to fully document the event.

The Verdugo Mountains, 1949...

o
2011!

o
More scenery.

o

o
Derek and Maren finally made it home (after braving LA freeways full of people unaccustomed to driving in SNOW), and Maren proved how dangerous she is with a snowball!!
o
LOOK OUT MOMMY!
o
She got me!

o
A new Olympic sport? Snow Boogieboarding!

o

o

o
o
Maren wasn't having any fun AT ALL.

o
I decided we needed hot chocolate, so I drove to Krispy Kreme around the corner (where they have the world's best hot chocolate) and along the way took this pic of actual SNOW on my windshield.
o
Meanwhile... relaxing in front of the DVD fireplace.
o
o
We will of course bring you any further developments as they... develop. Let It Snow!!

Spirit Week: Decades Day!

Well, we wrapped up Spirit Week with our tribute to the 1950s. And the 80's - that is, the 1780s, as Maren insisted on wearing her French Revolution Urchin Girl costume from Broadway a la Carte a couple of years back.

o
Ready for the Decades Dance at school!

FUN FACT: Deacon's genuine leather jacket is from the Jaclyn Smith collection at K-Mart. Originally $130, it was on sale today for $20!! Yay K-Mart!
o
The St. Paul's faculty in the 80s!

o
She was getting nachos, but Derek thought this looked like our little urchin girl was at the soup kitchen.

o
RADICAL - Long Live the 80s!

o
We weren't alive in the 50s, and we weren't even born in the same millennium, but somehow Amelia and I had the same poodle skirt.

o
60s and 90s!

o
The 2011s! What do we call our current decade, anyway??

o
The Age of Aquarius!

o
Lil' greasers. Derek told them to "look tough".

o
More 2011s. Whatever we decide to call it.

o
PEACE

o
And representing the Golden Age of the mid-90s... Hey, Macarena!
o
It was a great ending to a fun week. We danced the night away like crazy teenagers - now to break out the Advil and heating pads.

Spirit Week: Mix-Match and Bad Hair Day!

From the runways of Milan to the driveways of Burbank... today's the day to make a BOLD fashion statement!

o
First, we have Maren in a shirt that fit her best in 2006, a daisy pin, kelly green pants and unmatched shoes (worn on the wrong feet).

o
Rings on every finger!

o
Hair accessories are a MUST.

o
You can't see them, but Maren is wearing one jellyfish sock and one St. Patrick's Day sock under her mismatched shoes.

o
This handsome lad is ready for a day of serious study.

o
PERFECT hair...

o
A good fit is always essential to fashion success.

o
A shoe and a boot, on the wrong feet.

o
At school! Maren hard at work...

o
If you don't want to turn your head upside down to see what she's writing, here it is:

I an waring Mis Match clothing of three pony tals (on my head) and ...
o
The Third Grade.

o
Miss Stone and her serious students.
o
Tomorrow is Decades Day... we'll see what we come up with for that one!
