Halfway There...

Yesterday was a big work day at the new church building on Glenoaks. Several crews worked on different projects: landscaping, painting, woodworking, pew refinishing, and window detail.

Pastor Brian: Painter or Teletubbie?

Kids In Print!

Yesterday afternoon, our good friend and fellow Star Wars nut Steve called to let us know that he had just received his Star Wars Insider magazine in the mail, and on page 23 (to the right of Anthony Daniels, who played C-3PO) there was a picture of Deacon and Maren!

The Star Wars Insider is the Official Star Wars Fan Club magazine, which started out 30 years ago as Bantha Tracks. We're honored to see our kids grace the pages of this venerable publication!

It'll be on sale at newsstands on Tuesday, July 24th. (Thanks to Steve for the scans!)

Seal Beach

Took the kids to Seal Beach today, and it was just a perfect day! The weather was beautiful, and the kids were on their best behavior. They had so much fun playing in the sand and waves and collecting seashells.

A GREAT parking space!!

Dinosaur Camp

A short update today. The kids started Dinosaur Camp at Stough Canyon Nature Center in Burbank. They went on a hike and saw lizards and tadpoles... they also got dinosaur hats and made masks.

Here's a picture!

The Fab Four!

Derek and Deacon went to the annual Fab Four concert at the Starlight Bowl tonight... of course, The Fab Four (http://www.thefabfour.com/) are an incredible Beatles tribute band.

Also incredible: our new cell phones take movies! We had no idea. I thought they just took pictures. So here's a cell phone movie of the Fab Four (click the arrow twice):

Last year it was about 110 degrees the day of the concert, but this year it was in the mid-80s. Great music AND great weather!

Some other pics from the concert...

Our mission next year is to take Miss Maren. Hopefully after turning 4, she'll be more appreciative, and officially out of the Terrible Twos and Threes (and Ones).

Spider City... again!

The vote was a unanimous 2-0 to go to the zoo today (easily beating Option 2, Chuck-E-Cheese).

Enjoying the World of Birds Show...

The kids were especially thrilled when Daddy met us there, bringing lunch and going with them to Spider City.

Deacon maintained that Spider City was the best part of the day, but the real highlight had to be the big fans blowing mist everywhere. He got drenched and had a blast.

Maren in the mist...

At the gift shop... always the best part of the exhibit!
