oh, I just learned so much about Maren! I had no idea that she didn't like bacon, and that her favorite movie is "The Hobbit". I also love knowing that her favorite song is "Another One Rides the Bus", and that her Hero is her Mommy. :)
We need to get up to your neck of the woods sometime so you can actually MEET Maren! And Deacon. They'd love to meet you.
I don't want to sound like an annoying, bragging parent, BUT... the reason she got Student of the Week was because she read the book "The Hobbit" and got 100% on the Hobbit AR test (Accelerated Reader, a standard reading/testing program at all schools) - and she's only in 3rd grade! Her teacher was so happy, and so were we!
Of course the movie only covers the first 1/3 of the book, so we know she was paying attention to what she was reading. [End bragging].
I've never read The Hobbit or any of the Lord of the Rings books. I tried The Hobbit, in high school I think, and just couldn't get interested in it. Deacon just finished the first LOTR book, all 527 pages, and is reading the Two Towers now. Lots of AR points for those!
Anyway, that's the story about the Student of the Week thing. And yes, I was flattered and honored to be her Hero. :)
Wow! Great job, Maren! Sounds like both Maren and Deacon are avid and advanced readers. Such a wonderful thing!
I haven't ever read the Lord of the Ring Trilogy, although I think I read the Hobbit in grade school. I may try to read them soon. I'm in the middle of re-reading all 7 of the Harry Potter books now. (do either Maren or Deacon like Harry Potter?)
I'd love to come down for a visit sometime. Maybe during the summer when everyone is on vacation?
Congratulations again, Maren! We are all so proud of you!! xoxo
Of course you're welcome to come over for a visit any time. We'd love to see you! Summer would be great - we might be on a mini-vacation mid to late August, but otherwise we'll be here. I'm sort of stuck here because of all my dr. appts. *sigh*
The kids have never been into Harry Potter. The 3rd grade teacher read the first one to Deacon's class, but for some reason it didn't spark his interest. Maren hasn't read any of them and says she doesn't want to - I don't know why! Maybe someday. I know people really, really love those books. I've never read them, either! I spend a lot of time in waiting rooms to see doctors these days, so I should just get the HP books on my Kindle and expand my fandom horizons. :)

Me love that I got shining star and student of the week. Me is so happy! Tank you grammie and trina for commenting about it! (:
Me also is sad because me have to go to school tomorrow!
