Christmas Morning!

There's so much to catch up on!!
o
After what was by far our most eventful trip to Sacramento ever, I'm taking a minute to post some pics of Christmas Morning. We'll have a full report on the birth of little Ethan Isaac Oyog in a bit. For now...
o
Santa Claus is surely sitting at his desk up at the North Pole stressing over how he's going to top himself in 2010, at least when it comes to the Alff kids...
o
...who deducted that he was pleased with the milk and cookies they left out for him, judging by the mostly-consumed items on the plate.

o
But before we reveal Santa's presents, we must first review a memorable scene from The Empire Strikes Back (cue film projector motor sound effect).
o
Near the beginning of the movie, the Rebels are concerned about Luke Skywalker, who hasn't reported in from his patrol on the remote ice planet of Hoth. Han Solo finds a Tauntaun to ride into the snow to search for him and is told, "Your tauntaun will freeze before you reach the first marker."

o
Han rides the tauntaun into the blizzard anyway and finds Luke clinging to life. He looks up to see...

o
His tauntaun, dead.

o
So he uses Luke's lightsaber to cut open the carcass...

o

o
...and stuffs Luke inside to warm him up.

o
Nearly 30 years after that defining moment in film history, somebody had the brilliant idea to create tauntaun sleeping bags!! Complete with lightsaber zipper and a lining with a "tauntaun entrails" pattern. They were presented as an April Fool's Day joke on a geeky-gift website, but Star Wars fans demanded they be made available for real, and by December Santa was able to aquire one for each of the kids!

o
As that guy said, those tauntauns just won't make it past the first marker.

o
The kids were SOOOOO happy!

o

o
Intestines!!

o
Ah, there's no chance of frostbite now.

o
For some reason, Gramps wasn't disappointed that he didn't receive a dead tauntaun. In fact, he seemed fairly pleased with his present - a case of soup!

o
Ready for a Hoth blizzard - Maren tries on her new hat, gloves and scarf!
o
Check back soon for full coverage of the rest of Christmas Day!

I LOVE the Tauntaun sleeping bags! Those are brilliant! And, Santa did such an impressive job with setting up the whole scene. Clearly, Santa is a Star Wars Fan. :)

Looks like the Alff Clan had a wonderful holiday season.

Oh, and I'm so sorry I forgot to send you an email on Jan. 1st to wish you a Happy Birthday. I always remember that it's your birthday, but I don't always remember to actually write you ON your birthday.

Much love to all of you! xoxo

Thank you Trina!!

Deacon was surprised by Santa's thoroughness at setting the scene, but thought it was because Santa is (#1) from the North Pole and (#2) "experienced" at providing Star Wars-related presents because Star Wars has been around for over 30 years. So we thought that was cute. :)

And I never replied back to your last comment, but yes, Maren got a Raggedy Andy! She loves Raggedy Ann and Andy. I tell her about you all the time (for other blog readers, Trina is a famed, long-time collector of Raggedy Ann and Andys)! She did say in the last few days that she wants a bigger Andy, to go with her large Ann. But she's decided that this Andy can be the big brother to the little ones you gave to her and Deacon when they were born. We have GOT to get to your house one of these trips up north so she can see your collection! (Oh, and to see you, too!)

Thanks for the birthday wishes! And hey, I don't think I ever email you on your birthday, but I do think about you on April 28th!

Hope you guys had great holidays, too. :)
