Since I have yet to transfer the recital video to a blog-compatible format, I decided to go ahead and post some post-recital pics first. Then I can post the video with the recital pics, and all will be right with the universe.

Deacon's choice for post-recital dining yesterday was Olive Garden. The Burbank Olive Garden is THE busiest place on Earth, but Deacon wanted to wait it out rather than go next door to Outback Steakhouse, where we could have been seated and eating in minutes. So here's today's Waiting for Olive Garden Gallery.

Grandma and Deacon and their Cracker Jacks! We thought it would be fun to break out some Cracker Jacks after their performance of Take Me Out To The Ball Game. Little did we know that it was so hard to find boxed Cracker Jacks these days. These were the very last boxes in Burbank! Thank you, Smart & Final!!
Forget the snacks, where's the prize??
Got it.
Editor's note: it seems we don't have a picture of the actual prize, a folding puzzle which reveals Susan B. Anthony.

With Outback Steakhouse (whose diners came and went, having time to eat a leisurely meal while we waited for the O.G.) looming, Grandma and Grandpa kept the kids occupied and provided a whine-free environment for everyone.

Check back soon for Deacon's Recital: Part 1!!

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!
All the classic joints in LA, and the kid wants to go to Olive Garden. Yeesh!!
Exactly. But the highlight was digging through the Cracker Jacks to get... a Susan B. Anthony puzzle. As kids we all dreamed of getting a prize like that, not those cool toy animals, or mini comic portraits, or baseball games, or folding paper boats that really float. Those were fun, yes, but you just can't beat the prizes that so elegantly evoke the 19th century beginnings of the women's rights movement.
