Photography by Maren

Catching up, from 5/20 -- we found these pictures on the camera after Maren "borrowed" it one afternoon:

Album covers, all.

I just realized that the fourth one down features what is probably the first ever picture of the camera's own lens cap.

I think you have another photographer in the family--Maren's photo's are very good. She seems quite adept at taking really good pics of her feet. There must be a deeper meaning to the picture of her socks laying lonely and alone on the floor.

I love the subjects Marin chose...all deeply relevant to the young artist and, judging from the composition, carefully chosen.

I agree Bonny, the concluding photo "dirty socks" seems to end the sequence of Maren's portraits of her barefeet, causing one to ponder the relationship between feet and socks.

But there seems to be two story lines. There is the feet sequence...but the series starts with a prominant piano keyboard displaying the highly significant composition "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". That is followed by the portrait of her brother playing at the computer, and finally a looming box of crayons dominates a paper strewn landscape.

The interplay of self-reflection and focus on specific elements in Maren's environment creates a visual rhythm that does reveal a glimpse into this budding young photographer's inner world.

I'd say that sums it up!

Thank you for your brilliant, accurate analysis! :)

clearly what she's saying is that the dirty socks are you...they're me...they're all of us...
