Kids In Print!

Yesterday afternoon, our good friend and fellow Star Wars nut Steve called to let us know that he had just received his Star Wars Insider magazine in the mail, and on page 23 (to the right of Anthony Daniels, who played C-3PO) there was a picture of Deacon and Maren!

The Star Wars Insider is the Official Star Wars Fan Club magazine, which started out 30 years ago as Bantha Tracks. We're honored to see our kids grace the pages of this venerable publication!

It'll be on sale at newsstands on Tuesday, July 24th. (Thanks to Steve for the scans!)

My meager experiments in creativity aren't even in the same universe as your awesome and varied talents, Cousin. And, yes, the kids do help! :) :)

Oh brother! You are way more creative than I am. You really have a unique vision and ability to visualize and correlate images. And who knew you could also design costumes? Maren's outfit is amazing because of the detail and craftmanship. All your cards and videos also demonstrate your terrific eye for design and your attention to detail.

I was thinking about my creativity the other day. I'm OK at run of the mill artsy stuff and I do feel good about reaching the second rung as a singer, but I don't have that unique spark that marks truly creative people. The stuff I've done is just more public in nature so more people know about it...and I've developed an undeserved rep in the family.

On the positive side...I have realized the great thing Kay taught me, as an artist, was to just try making stuff. Maybe I produce a larger quality of art because, while I am a perfectionist and do my best, I'm not too worried about how it will turn out. Like Georgia O'Keefe I'm willing to trash anything I make if I don't like it. Art is experimental and fun for me. Quantity doesn't equal quality...a fact I am painfully aware of.

So...Yeah, yeah! I'm not saying all this to flatter you or give you a big head...It's the Truth...you are a very talented and creative woman. Just accept it, baby!!!!
