The festivities started on Friday, January 21st, with some Krispy Kreme treats for Deacon and his fellow 3rd Graders!

Daddy couldn't resist taking a few shots of Deacon's rainforest diorama...

On the way out of school, with a big "9" balloon.
Birthday Boy!
Saturday was Deacon's actual birthday. We went to Medieval Times in Buena Park!
This guy said Happy Birthday to Deacon!
We were rooting for the Blue Knight.
He didn't win, but I thought he looked a bit like Steve Perry from Journey. Don't Stop Believin', dude!!
Lil' jousters!
Back home in Burbank... a How to Train Your Dragon cake!
Blowing out the candles. AFB apologies for Deacon's state of dress (or lack thereof).
Presents!

What did Derek eat at Medieval Times?
Everything. I was the clean up crew. Two and a half bowls of tomato bisque soup, a few pieces of garlic bread, approximately half a roasted chicken, three spare ribs, several herb-basted potatoes, and a couple "Pastries of the Castle" (apple turnovers). And Pepsi.
Because nothing says "11th Century" like an ice-cold Pepsi.
Otherwise, preserving the authenticity of the experience, you eat everything with your hands - no utensils! They do kindly give you wet wipes at the end. Which meant that I didn't have to touch my beloved Droid phone with greasy fingers.
I like Derek's elegant shoes. They match so beautifully with his elegant robe
