Good Vibrations!

Since Deacon is a big fan of the Beach Boys, he was thrilled to get to see Brian Wilson in concert at the Hollywood Bowl yesterday!
o
Maren and Mommy had tickets, too, but had to miss out because of Maren's illness. But Daddy and Deacon were among friends -- a large contingent of folks from St. Paul's!
o
Of course, every fun outing has to begin with a visit to the gift shop.

o
And look what was in the Hollywood Bowl gift shop! UGLYDOLLS!

o
Cinko was happy to be with his own kind.

I remember when Matt and I went to see him at the Hollywood Bowl...did he saying anything wacky?

Really he did great, nothing too wacky... The band - in addition to being fantastic musically - has the between song patter down cold, and props up Brian pretty well; they can handle whatever curve ball he throws and steer the proceedings back on track... Actually the wackiest thing that came out of his mouth were the lyrics of "Heroes and Villains".

I was wondering if he actually played the keyboards, as opposed to using it as a "security blanket".

Security blanket, for the most part. The music is just too complex to play live unless you're totally focused on it. He does the lead vocals to retain that Brian Wilson quality and the sound guys ride the mic closely, turning it up and down as needed... for the last couple numbers he picked up a security blanket bass guitar and had some fun with that. But he's been touring quite a bit, to the point that he's overcome his famous stage-fright and can really do a good show.

Yeah, it's pretty remarkable that he's even able to do it (albeit it in a somewhat limited capacity). Anyway, I'm glad you guys had a good time.
