Watching the paleontologists at work!
Sabertoothed Cat (There were signs everywhere - don't call it a tiger! Or those paleontologists will jump out get angry - and you don't want to see them when they're angry!)

Sheesh, it's been well over an hour since I asked to see a Woolly Mammoth - better late than never!

Checking out the pits!
Excavating Pit 91! Scientists were out there in the tar today, on a Saturday, in the rain, looking for bones.

Inspired by the big beasts, many still in the tar, Maren tells them all who's boss!!

My favorite sign of the day was at the entrance before you paid to go in the museum: "WHERE IS T-REX? We do not have dinosaur skeletons here. We have ice-age mammal skeletons."
I love the pix of the kids not getting too close to the fence by the pits lest they fall into the bubbling tar. I remember my mom's warnings to not get too close to the "pits" on a similar trip a few years back. The only difference was I was a young adult. Hmm?
